From the arrivals door to the driver's seat at DBV
Dubrovnik Airport is at Cilipi, roughly 20 km southeast of Dubrovnik and past Cavtat. It is compact, so there are two versions of a collection here: a counter inside the arrivals building, or a minibus to a yard up the road. Your voucher says which.

The summer schedule runs late and the last arrivals touch down after 23:00, with 20 km of dark road between you and a city that has gone quiet. At that hour a collection that works beats a collection that is two euros cheaper.

Most Dubrovnik airport car rental advice skips this. Cilipi is not a suburb of Dubrovnik with a runway attached. It is out in Konavle, and the airport road puts you on the D8 with the city behind your shoulder.
When the trip begins in the south that is an unadvertised advantage: the holiday starts the moment you leave the lot. When the first stop is a hotel near the Old Town it is a cost, 20 km at the end of a travel day to reach a place where the car has nothing to do. Look at your first two days before the price.

Handing the car back before an early flight
The return gets a fraction of the attention the pickup gets, and it is the half people get wrong. Same 20 km, same two lane road, now against a boarding time you cannot negotiate with. In season the stretch through Zupa and Cavtat carries local traffic from early on, so the number your map gives you at four is not the one you live at seven.
Two questions are worth asking on the day you collect, while somebody is standing next to you: exactly where the car goes back, since the return bay is not always where you were handed the keys, and what happens if you arrive before anyone is on duty. Both are grim to settle by phone at dawn with a boot full of luggage.
Or skip it: a hire that ends the day before you fly turns the airport run back into an ordinary transfer.
